The challenge
A leading bank in Poland invited Capco to implement Backbase’s top digital banking platform to modernize its current internet banking offering. Capco and Backbase worked collaboratively to ensure the bank could meet its challenging business requirements and as a result, were able to deliver a modern, superior and responsive web application that provides high-value functionalities for both retail and small medium enterprises (SMEs).
Overcoming the challenge
The Polish bank had developed a strategy that focused on improving their market presence and becoming a digital leader within this domain. As the bank had recently undertaken several mergers, this goal was both ambitious and challenging.
Adding to this complexity, the bank was rebuilding its back-end systems to move towards a microservices architecture, whilst also trying to implement changes to their internet banking platform – a complex and time-consuming task.
Furthermore, the start of the project overlapped with the beginning of an Agile transformation program. This huge organizational change was having a significant impact on their employees, who were asked to adopt a new delivery mindset while moving forward with such a strategic initiative.
Approach, solution & benefits
To overcome these challenges, Capco supported the bank in both architectural and organizational transformation. The Backbase platform implementation was the first project in the bank delivered using the Agile scrum framework.
Capco was involved in all project-related activities from the beginning until the final delivery of the new online banking solution. This included business and functional analysis, to architecture, test automation, continuous integration and delivery, through to project management and the launch.
The final product has allowed the bank to position itself among the top digital market players and to accomplish further benefits, such as:
