KEY CHALLENGES
Brexit’s compressed timelines, combined with regulatory uncertainty, makes programme resourcing, solution
and design testing, governance and planning more difficult to complete.
KEY OBSERVATIONS
- Complex structural banking transformation programmes often have a 3+ year timeline from initiation to implementation. In the event of a ‘Hard Brexit’, some initiatives will struggle to achieve completion ahead of the fixed March 2019 readiness date.
- Significant regulatory changes such as with FRTB, SFTR, GDPR and segregation or ‘ring-fencing’ are also inflight and due to be delivered in parallel with Brexit, resulting in competition for resourcing and budgets.
