Helping people solve problems has always been one of my passions, whether at work or personal settings. Even when I was in the Philippines earning a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, I always sought out tasks that challenged and inspired me.
This approach brought me face-to-face with exciting developments in software product development. I enjoyed creating applications from scratch, enhancing legacy systems, and supporting internal and client-facing applications.
The next important milestone in my journey was moving to the United States and settling in Orlando. I discovered Capco and was impressed by their emphasis on innovation and collaboration. I had also received positive feedback about their workplace environment and employee work-life balance.
I was determined to secure a role, which meant being thoroughly prepared for the hiring process. I refined my resume, revisited technical concepts, and practiced dozens of problem-solving questions. The interview process was thorough, but friendly.
During this time, the Capco team gave me a programming assessment so that I could prove my technical skills. I also met members of the leadership team and other Capco colleagues. These conversations gave me an insight into the working culture at Capco and reassured me that I would be a good fit!
One of the things I like most about my role is the opportunity to put my problem-solving skills to use every day. Tackling unexpected challenges and navigating unknowns requires me to be adaptable and resourceful. It’s a rewarding environment.
My expertise in backend development, combined with exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS, has also been extremely helpful. With these skills, I successfully applied to join the Capco generative AI team, where I contribute to innovative projects that push boundaries of AI in the workplace.
In addition to providing a rewarding professional environment, Capco promotes a healthy work-life balance. I’m a big fan of reading fiction in my spare time and most weekends you’ll find me immersed in a book.
